Tailwind Trails

April Milner is the planner of this event and will serve as the Technical Delegate overseeing all of the competition, judging and awards.  She started riding in college at Purdue University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation.  After college she had a career as a corporate jet pilot and then as an airline pilot, flying internationally for American Airlines.  Retiring from American Airlines to raise her family, April now resides at Tailwind Trails in Palm City, Fl, with her husband of almost 30 years, their three teenaged children and April’s Mom.  Establishing Tailwind Trails in 2017, April began hosting and training Mounted Police on her Extreme Mountain Trail & Obstacle Course, originally designed by the International Mountain Trail Course Association’s founder, Mark Bolendar.  Tailwind Trails is a 20 acre facility that also offers a cross country schooling course, covered arena, 12 stall CBS barn, and a full time Boarding & Training program.  Working with Mounted Units immediately became her passion, which she has dovetailed into authoring and teaching an industry leading college curriculum in collaboration with Keiser University’s Equine Science Department.  April is the Eastern Division Team Leader for the Peace River Search & Rescue Equine Scenting Team and is also developing a college course with Peace River’s founder, Michael Hadsell, on that cutting edge science.  April works tirelessly in her community, supports several charity organizations, and is an advocate for both equine welfare and for law enforcement.  She has organized several horse shows benefiting some of these charities and she is thrilled to bring this special event to the World Equestrian Center in support of our mounted men and women in Blue
